Something Wonderful 22 - Life Pleasures

It really feels so wonderful to reward yourself with something that will make you feel good.

We might have our own ways in rewarding and pampering ourselves with simple life’s pleasures.  After all, we work very hard and it would not be a selfish act to reward ourselves that will make us feel wonderful and happy.

Some of us might go for some material things like gadgets, toys, cars, bikes, clothes, shoes, bags, etc.  Others may have been preparing themselves for a nice vacation.  Some may celebrate with their families and friends.  While for others, a good food may satisfy their cravings.

Whatever we reward ourselves with, as long as we feel wonderful and happy about it, we should go for it.  Our life offers no certainty of its existence.  Therefore, it is but just right to reward it and our hard labour of things that we think will give us happiness.  For at the end of the day, what matters is not what we have but the happiness and contentment in our heart.

Food Trip 22 - Pancit Lomi

In a street corner which I use to pass almost every day, there are several stores selling food that ranges from merienda to a decent meal.  Theirs are among the cheapest in the area that's why I become their regular patron.

One time, out of the blue, I tried a lomi soup.  It is called a lomi because of its thick noodles.  A serving may be plain or with a boiled egg.

One of the common bystanders by the food stalls commented about the foul odor of lomi.  At first, she thought the food was no longer edible but the vendor told us that it was because of the boiled egg inside the cauldron.  Later on, the woman commented that the boiled eggs should be contained within the cauldron because for the duration of the day lomi will really smell bad like a bad egg.  The boiled egg should only be added upon ordering a serving of the lomi soup.

The woman’s observation was true.  The boiled egg should be separated from the lomi soup.  It is similar to the egg which is kept inside the underwear and is soaked in sweat.  It will really smell bad.  Hehe.

Something Wonderful 21 - Faith

What will happen if faith is the only thing you got?

They say that prayers can move mountains and faith can deliver miracles.  When all else fail, faith will be our last stronghold.  For it is through faith that heaven will open its door and grant us what we prayed for when the time is right.

There are instances that life will allow us to enjoy and experience something that is rewarding and heavenly.  Even with the smallest amount of joy out of the ordinary, it is the pure joy that makes our life worthwhile.  But there will come a time that we will be driven out from our comfort zone and makes us experience something that will test our limit.  And when the worst of everything happens, it is by our faith that will keep us alive and fighting.

When it seems the world has abandoned us, when we become hopeless and scared, and when we feel all alone and devastated, some of us might permanently close the book of our life.  But for those who wish to continue and fight for their precious life, it will be a rewarding wonderful moment when you find your true self and the true meaning of your life.  Though we might not be able to tell if our faith is enough, just a mustard-size faith might do wonders in the process.  And the moment we will be able to surpass and hurdle that challenging and struggling process, it will be our most wonderful moment to cherish the life that we bravely protect and nurture.

Food Trip 21 - Fish Eggs

I don't know if you'll consider fish egg as an exotic food.  Others say that this stuff is an aphrodisiac food.

I am no stranger to fish eggs.  Actually, we used to scramble over fish eggs every time they were part of our dish.  Those were the days when my siblings and I were still young.

The taste of fish eggs is different from its meat.  Well, almost all different body parts of a big fish taste different.  And if you have not yet tasted a fish egg, either with broth or fried, I suggest that you give it a try.  I'm sure you'll enjoy it.  Just keep an open mind and an open mouth about this stuff.  Hehe

Something Wonderful 20 - Scream and Shout

Scream and shout and let it all out and experience the wonderful feeling afterwards.

There are times that we need to unload our excess baggage.  These could be about our relationship, work related, or some things that are already building in us for some time already.  We might have so much to carry that it already affects are dealings and every day life.

For some people who tend to absorb all those negative things and keep a lot of ill feelings, one good theraphy is to find a good place to unload your burden.  Normally, if possible, at the top of the building, or top of the mountain, or perhaps an open space where you can pour your heart out and shout to the world about your burden.  You can scream, shout, curse, or say all the things you wanted to say.  The important thing is you need to unload your burden regardless if you look and act like crazy.  Once you do this, the reward of feeling like renewed is such a wonderful experience to behold.

Food Trip 20 - Guyabano

During a hot day, experts say that we should refrain from eating guyabano because it is hot for the body.  Unlike watermelon and pineapple, the likes of guyabano and mango are not to be taken to cool off the body temperature.  But hot or not, I would always welcome the guyabano fruit.

When I was growing up, we had a guyabano tree by the backyard.  Its tree is not tall and even a kid can climb that one.  The moment it bears fruit, you wish they are not going to get ripe all at the same time.  And I am the most excited one among my siblings.  I got to feast on the fruits without so much competition around.  Haha.

Something Wonderful 19 - Extra Special Mornings

Some mornings are extra special and if we happen to catch that one, we feel that we are blessed.

It is a rarity to wake up early in the morning and catch the scene where heaven seems to open its door towards the earth.  It is such a wonderful and breathtaking moment to be a witness to such event.  And with this kind of sight to behold, you know the rest of your day will be extra special.

When we experience something grand, we feel that each passing moment is awe-inspiring and amazing.  We feel that our spirit is recharged with some kind of positive and inspiring energy that radiates from our within.  There is some kind of euphoria that we want to share with others.  And our jubilation is evident even if we don’t speak of it.

Food Trip 19 - Fried Chicken

There was a newly opened branch of a 'mouth watering' chicken and pork near my place.  I know its main branch and they are having their expansion.  Since I have been rearing to try their fried chicken for a long time already, I also wanted to find out if their 'mouth watering' name is indeed true.

An order of a whole fried chicken is cheaper compared with other stores selling grilled chicken and oven-roasted chicken.  When it was delivered, I was trying to smell if it has something unique in it.  No smell whatsoever except for the smell of the oil and chicken.  I was thinking that most probably it has a good taste.  Alas!  The taste was bland and the taste of old used oil was despicable.  The taste of much more cheaper chicken parts by the roadside taste even better compared to what they were trying to sell.  There was nothing special to the taste and it was like eating a dry chicken deep fried in used oil.  No wonder, after several months they closed their second branch.

Something Wonderful 18 - Explore

If there’s one thing I love to do in my free time that would be going around the country and explore.

They say that you will grow as a person when you travel.  You are exposed to different types of people, their culture, the food they eat, their beliefs and customs, and most probably you will learn something new from them.  The experiences that you will bring home are worth any material thing and definitely this will make you to be a better person.

One of the best stuff I always look forward to is the beauty of nature.  My travels allow me to push myself to my limits and even beyond.  There were things that I thought I will not be able to do but I surprised my own self.  When you are there and the reward is just an arm’s reach away, you will try your best to go for it.  And at the end of the day, the fulfillment is simply beyond compare.  Now that’ what I call something wonderful.
